Syrian-Russian talks on cooperation in the field of communications and digital transformation

Discussions between representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Technology and a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Media and companies specialized in the field of communications and technology focused today on the possibilities of enhancing cooperation in the field of communications and digital transformation projects in Syria.

In a statement to SANA’s delegate, the Director of the Media Development and International Cooperation Department at the Russian Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, Larina Ekaterina, indicated that Russia is a key partner to Syria in the field of communications technology, and there are many existing projects in addition to several other projects that are preparing to be launched soon, especially in the field of digitization of education, digital transformation and communications fully.

Ekaterina affirmed the readiness of Russian companies to cooperate with Syrian companies and the Ministry of Communications in supporting the development of communication services, providing better services in the fields of satellite television broadcasting and improving the Internet to reach the majority of the population in various regions at reasonable prices and quality.

Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Communications and Technology, Mohamed Saeed indicated that the ministry is interested in attracting international expertise in the field of communications, especially from the Russian side, pointing out that the projects that the ministry is working on with partners is concerned with preparing the infrastructure necessary to achieve digital transformation.

The digital transformation project in Syria began with the adoption of 12 projects that form the basis of transformation in all ministries, according to Saeed, who indicated that these projects need technical support and specialized expertise, which highlights the importance of the role of the Russian side in this field.

These discussions come within the agenda of the joint Syrian-Russian meeting to follow up on the work of the international conference on the return of refugees.
