Rottenbuch - The neighboring communities of Rottenbuch, Wildsteig and Bad Bayersoien as well as the State Building Authority Weilheim are canceling the festival at the Echelsbacher Bridge planned for Saturday, November 20, due to the current pandemic.
The traffic release including church blessing will now take place on a small scale at a press conference.
After around four and a half years of work on the partial renovation of the Echelsbacher Bridge, the opening to traffic should actually have been given a more solemn setting as part of a bridge festival.
But now nothing will come of it.
The corresponding decision was made on Thursday last week.
“We regret that we cannot hold the bridge festival as planned at this point in time.
Anything but a cancellation of this event would be unjustifiable for everyone involved and the region in view of the tense pandemic overall situation ", say the three mayors Gisela Kieweg (Bad Bayersoien), Markus Bader (Rottenbuch) and Josef Taffertshofer (Wildsteig) as well as Christoph Prause from However, state building authority Weilheim agreed.
In 2022, however, the completion of the construction work should be honored accordingly - the festival is then to be combined with the completion of the new information pavilion with memorial, probably in late summer.
