The guide: When do you light the first candle of Hanukkah 2021? | Israel today

2021-11-17T12:09:22.600Z

The first candle of Hanukkah will take place on November 28, 2021 • On the first night, three blessings should be greeted. • It is customary to light the menorah after sunset and some people light it only after the stars come out.

Wait, what candle today, Monday, Tuesday, maybe even Wednesday?

This year you will not have to ask, because Hanukkah 2021 is going to be simple: first candle on Sunday, second candle on Monday, and so on, until the eighth candle is again on Sunday.

As with every Hanukkah, this year too a menorah is lit every evening in front of the house or in a window facing the street, to advertise the miracle.

Every day more light is added: on the first night one candle is lit on the right side of the menorah;

On the second night add a second candle from the left to the previous one and light both, from left to right, and so on in the following days.

In some testimonies it is customary to light one menorah for the whole family, and in some - that each member of the household lights his own menorah, in a celebration of light and color.

Some people light the menorah after sunset, and some people wait another 18 minutes for the stars to come out.

In any case, the mitzvah is for the candles to be lit until about half an hour after the stars come out.

Even if you forgot to turn on the stars, there is no problem.

You can light candles in a menorah as long as there are people walking around in the street.

On the first night of Hanukkah 2021 (Sunday, the evening of the 25th of Kislev, November 28) we greet three blessings: Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the world, to light a candle of Hanukkah, You are the Lord our God, the King of the world that we have lived and maintained and reached this time (the rest of the nights bless only the first two blessings).

And take it easy, when do you turn it on?
