"Houses from the Inside - Jerusalem", the urban festival returns after a year of hiatus due to the corona with a rich offer of hundreds of tours in the capital. The festival, which is in its 15th year, offers tours that include fascinating discoveries of sites that tell the history and present of the city. The festival's organizers (Jerusalem Development Authority and Jerusalem Office and Heritage in collaboration with the Jerusalem Municipality) this year promise a rich program of rare visits and intriguing visits to intriguing homes and buildings in the city, some of which have never been opened to the general public. Another innovation offered this year is cycling tours, alongside the regular walking tours.
Among the buildings that can be visited at this year's festival are also some very new and intriguing sites, such as the "Imaginary Consulate" in Abu Tor, which was home to the Persian consulate (and some say before that the Iraqi one as well).
Or visit the studio of the painter Pinchas Litvinovsky, located at the seam between the Talbiyeh and old Katamon neighborhoods, which in 1948 housed the British Assistant Commissioner.
Also in the new places is the fascinating story of the first Jerusalem hospital built outside the walls of the Old City, Shaare Zedek Hospital, which will be told by Shlomo Wallach and Dr. Yosef Wallach, descendants of the hospital's founder, Dr. Moritz Wallach.
This year, more than 120 sites are open to the public, including ecological and green sites, private homes and public buildings.
Some places are open for independent tours and some for guided tours that require advance registration.
