Several meetings witnessed on the third day of the activities of the joint Syrian-Russian meeting to follow up on the work of the international conference on the return of the displaced focused on strengthening means of cooperation in the fields of maritime transport, oil, gas and water, banking cooperation and financial exchanges between the two countries.

Within the meetings that took place at the Umayyad Conference Palace in Damascus, the Deputy Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Eng. Khaled Al-Alej, discussed with a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Energy and companies specialized in the field of oil and gas the issue of supplying fuels, mineral oils, materials for infrastructure projects and the construction project of the Tel Adas station, in addition to issues related to the supply of spare parts. Spare parts and power accessories within the framework of the agreements signed between the two sides.

On the issue of maritime transport, the director of the Maritime Transport Corporation in Lattakia, Eng. Hassan Mahalla, explained to SANA that a meeting took place with representatives of the Russian Ministry of Transport to discuss the possibilities of expanding the circle of joint work in various fields of work, including maritime transport and the possibility of establishing a joint Syrian-Russian company in the future, and to identify points and topics that could Discuss it at subsequent meetings.

Regarding cooperation in the field of banks and remittances, a representative of CMR Bank Kirill Gadzatsev indicated that he and the accompanying delegation discussed with the relevant authorities in Syria ways of banking cooperation in a way that facilitates financial operations resulting from commercial and economic transactions between the two countries.

Gadzatsev pointed to the importance of returning safety and stability to Syria and the beginning of the gradual improvement of the economic conditions in it, which helps the return of the work of companies, banks and all other sectors, stressing that the unilateral economic sanctions imposed by Western countries on Syria are illegal and immoral.

The Public Authority for Water Resources also discussed with the Russian Federal Agency for the Investment of Underground Resources the prospects of cooperation in the fields of groundwater and water basins, and the Deputy Director of the Authority, Dr. Basil Kamal El-Din, explained to SANA that the meeting discussed areas of cooperation with Russian companies in the fields of geology, databases, modern technologies and groundwater.

Kamal El-Din indicated that the cooperation will include areas such as groundwater resources and information centers, in addition to training technical cadres, updating studies related to the Barada basin and digging wells, leading to the signing of a cooperation agreement.

In turn, the representative of the Russian Federal Agency for the Investment of Underground Resources, Dmitry Olenikov, said that the discussion was positive and dealt with ways of cooperation and coordination in the field of investing underground resources and water resources.
