The city of Douma, with its wide audience, celebrated the city’s second cultural heritage festival, which kicked off today through traditional sword and shield dances, in addition to evoking its beautiful folklore through handicrafts and old agricultural tools to mix the old with the new and art with thought through book fairs, drawing, sculpture, calligraphy and flowers that distinguished Damascus, Jasmine.

The festival, which is held in cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the Friends of Damascus Countryside Association, aims to revive the intellectual and cultural movement in the city and rebuild what was destroyed by the hand of terrorism by taking the hand of thinking and creative minds.

During his speech, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhammad Seif El-Din, drew attention to the importance of civil associations in the development of culture and thought, stressing the ministry's support for such associations and the ancient city of Duma and its importance throughout history, and that it still enjoys that agricultural, industrial and craft importance.

Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, Governor of Damascus Countryside, explained in his speech that the city of Douma represents the pearl of the governorate and was the main food basket of the capital, as well as its cultural and intellectual heritage, its participation in the struggle against the French occupation and the honorable national stances of its sons.

And Muhammad Khair Saryol, head of the Friends of Damascus Countryside Association, said that this festival, which is being held for the second year in a row, has become one of the important events at the governorate level because of its importance and the role that culture plays in the life of the young generation, pointing to the originality of Douma, its heritage, its importance as a source and food reservoir, and its distinction in its diverse agricultural lands. .

The journalist Jamal Al-Jaish also reviewed the importance of the city throughout history, which was destroyed by the invaders many times, but it was always rising again as the phoenix rose, noting its cultural, heritage and agricultural importance.

The young artist, Muhammad Zain Al-Agati, presented a group of songs and Al-Qudud Al-Halabi by the late artist Sabah Fakhri through the songs “Oh Ya Sweet Ya Maslini”, “The First Ten My Love” and “Ya Mosaad Al-Subhiya”. The artist Moataz Raslan also presented the songs “Foot Al Nakhl” and “Bulbul Naghi” She was accompanied by the Douma band’s sword and shield dance, in addition to the Moulouya dance, and the Karate Children’s Troupe presented a sports show.
