"This distortion must be resolved once and for all": the reactions to the imitation of Scout Grant and Shuli Rand in "A Wonderful Land" | Israel today

The imitation of the well-publicized couple in the satire program of Keshet 12 flooded many comments throughout the network, the most prominent of which were on the Facebook page of the organization "Dead End, Help for those who refuse to divorce and Agunot"

Last night (Wednesday), the sketch "Release Shuli 2" was broadcast on the Great Land program, centered on Shuli Rand and Scout Grant and the issue of their arrival in the marriage covenant.

As a reminder, the marriage between the two became a private link to a well-publicized media issue due to her sensitivity regarding the fact that Rand was actually considered an anchor due to his first wife Michal refusing to give him a divorce, which required special permission from the rabbinate to allow him to marry Grant.

The Facebook page of the organization "Dead End, Helping Those Who Refuse to Divorce and Agunot" addressed the issue of inequality between women and men according to the halakhah that emerged in the sketch, and the reactions were as expected full of emotion, with some supporting things but some also coming out in a rage.

"A duty to watch for those who have not yet understood that this distortion needs to be resolved once and for all," it read.

"A biting and sad social sight."

As mentioned, the sketch of course sought to touch on the important and charged subject through cynical humor, but as expected, its contents were not received sympathetically among some viewers who were quick to react angrily on the net.

"How far will you go with hatred of the Jewish religion?"

"In the name of satire, are you allowed to say and laugh about the holy people of the Jewish people?" He wrote.

"A great country is a bunch of fools with cheap humor," a surfer stated on the sketch, adding: "I do not understand how Scout and Shuli do not sue them, they put them to ridicule."

On the other hand, some thought that this was an exact imitation and a legitimate and important satire, which faithfully represents the problems and inequality of the Jewish religion and the rabbinate's intervention in the laws of marriage.

"Be fair with Mrs. Scout will fight for the women who do not get a divorce," one response read, citing another "delusional one letting the rabbinate decide on people's lives. Jewish men 'celebrate' with polygamy while Jewish women are fucked with anchors."
