Antonov: America is delaying the extension of visas for workers in the Russian embassy and consulates on its soil

Russia's ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, announced that the Americans are delaying the extension of visas for 60 employees of the Russian embassy and consulates general in the United States.

According to the Tars Agency, Antonov told reporters yesterday: Our institutions abroad suffer from many problems, as about 60 employees of the Russian embassy and consulates general in the United States are still waiting to extend their visas, taking into account the family members of the aforementioned employees, and there is talk about 155 people, but the American side is delaying this.

Antonov pointed out that the US side is also delaying the registration of credentials of some employees of Russian diplomatic missions, pointing out that there are problems in registering official cars, in addition to the fact that confiscated Russian diplomatic property has not been returned.

Antonov pointed out that 40 other employees are waiting in Moscow to obtain US entry permits, indicating that some members of their families have visas, while others do not.

According to the ambassador, the US side strives to present itself as a victim of visa restrictions, and said, "The Americans are trying to lay full responsibility for the consular and visa difficulties on Moscow, and this is not true."

Regarding the call by some US lawmakers to expel 300 Russian diplomats, Antonov said, “Such initiatives show the ignorance of their owners, because there are not such a number of employees in the Russian embassy and consulates in the United States.”

Russian-American relations have deteriorated in recent years due to the difference in their attitudes towards resolving international issues, in addition to the US's policy of hegemony and interference in the affairs of other countries, and the failure to adhere to international law, which Russia strongly opposes.
