Different views on the job cut: After only seven months as head of city marketing, Stefan Erber left the Dorfen town hall.

Dorfen

- The communal economic development in the Dorfen town hall does not come to rest.

The head of city marketing, Stefan Erber, has resigned.

Mayor Heinz Grundner confirms this on request.

"Mr. Erber is no longer in the house," said the town hall chief on Wednesday.

The career changer from the economy gave personal reasons for his termination.

"The job cut did not quite correspond to what Mr. Erber had in mind," said Grundner.

The post will be advertised again, that has not yet happened.

He could not and would not say more about it, said the mayor.

He does not discuss personnel matters in public.

The Landshut heir did not take up the position in Dorfen until the beginning of April.

Before that, he worked for the automotive supplier Dräxlmaier in Vilsbiburg and then for almost 20 years as an entrepreneur and consultant.

This means that he has held the S2 “Public Relations and Economic Development” department, which reports directly to the Mayor, for an even shorter time than his predecessor Julia Neuberger.

Grundner introduced her at the beginning of June 2020 as the successor to Georg Seitz, who had retired.

The young woman from Mühldorf came to Dorfen with a completely different professional background: Bachelor in Tourism Management, Master in Economic Geography and collaboration in the regional development of the Mühldorf District Office.

However, the tasks of the management consultant and the economic geographer would have been the same: closing ranks with the Dorfen tradespeople, trade and handicrafts, the Dorfen support group and the agency commissioned with city marketing.

And here, too, there was a break in the spring of 2021.

After the contract with the agency Cima with its city manager Markus Jocher, who had been very present in the years before, expired, the city of Dorfen had to put this service out to tender.

Since then, the Institute for City and Regional Management (ISR) from Munich has been responsible.

In the pandemic years, a new important task was added for the future owner of the staff unit and the city marketing agency: coping with the consequences of the corona crisis by strengthening retail, increasing the attractiveness of the city center and vacancy management.

Erber has never been able to implement a project.

He had advertised an "After Corona Kickoff Event" with culture, sociability and shopping in the city center.

But with that he was ahead of his time.

In view of the dramatic course of the pandemic, there is still nothing to celebrate.
