During the pandemic, the federal-state round has become one of the decisive bodies in the fight against corona - even if the participants often quarrel over the measures.

Shortly before the end of the epidemic emergency, another round of country leaders meets with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU).

The Greens, however, are not very pleased with the occupation.

As usual, the round will take place with the old line-up - in addition to Merkel and the regional leaders, Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is also present.

The party leaders of the FDP and the Greens as possible future government partners of the SPD, however, are not involved.

The Greens would have liked to take part - but the Chancellery did not invite them, according to Green circles.

The political director of the Greens, Michael Kellner, now told SPIEGEL: “The offer of talks from our side is open.

In such a dramatic situation it would be important to agree on the next steps together. "

However, at least one Green Prime Minister is involved: Winfried Kretschmann from Baden-Württemberg.

Dispute about mandatory vaccination and 2G

The group has been meeting since the early afternoon in a video conference chaired by North Rhine-Westphalia. According to SPIEGEL information, a joint agreement has already been reached to initiate mandatory vaccination for nursing staff and to expand the efforts of the vaccination campaign. It is still a matter of dispute whether 2G rules and 3G rules for the workplace should be introduced across the board. Merkel had also brought into play that future pharmacists should be entrusted with vaccination - the majority of the country leaders, however, were against it.

During the pandemic, the federal and state governments had already met in several such rounds to agree on measures.

The meetings were often characterized by arguments and occasionally lasted into the night.

After that, the agreed measures were not always implemented in the federal states.
