The corona situation in the Free State is serious.

Stricter corona rules have been in effect in Bavaria since Tuesday - but there is an exception from Wednesday.

Update from November 17:

The corona situation in Bavaria is tense. "Only with consistent access restrictions such as 2G can we succeed in protecting our health system from even more dramatic stress," said Health Minister Klaus Holetschek a few days ago. The 2G regulation has been in force since Tuesday (November 16) (see initial notification). For underage students who are regularly tested for Corona at school, there is now an exception to the 2G rule in Bavaria's gastronomy, in hotels and holiday apartments.

This means that 12 to 17-year-olds are allowed to visit restaurants and hotels until further notice, even if they have not been vaccinated or have recovered.

This emerges from an amending regulation of the Ministry of Health, which came into force on Wednesday (November 17th).

"Without this exception, vaccinated parents would not be able to visit catering establishments or use accommodation services together with their non-vaccinated children," says the reasoning.

For students from the age of twelve there has only been a vaccination recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission since August 16.

Corona in Bavaria: Exceptions to the 2G rule

An exception to the 2G rule already applies to underage students “for their own sporting, musical or acting activities”. According to the cabinet decision, this exemption should be limited to the end of the year. Children under 12 are exempt from the 2G rule anyway because there is no approved vaccine and no vaccination recommendation for them.

And yet another exception to the 2G rule has been in effect since Wednesday: In hotels it does not apply "to non-tourist accommodation that is absolutely necessary and cannot be postponed".

For stays for professional or business purposes that cannot be postponed, the 3G-plus rule applies instead: Not only vaccinated and convalescents can get access, but guests with a negative PCR test can also get access.

The negative test certificate must be available upon arrival and must be renewed every 72 hours for longer stays.

New corona rules in Bavaria: 2G almost everywhere - which applies from today to restaurants, clubs and fitness studios

First report from November 14th:

Munich - The incidences in Bavaria are shooting up inexorably.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) therefore declared the disaster last week.

The clinic traffic light is red. The number of corona deaths is also increasing.

A comparatively high proportion were even fully vaccinated in October.

Due to the worrying situation, the ministers have agreed to tighten the rules.

Bayern will have to adjust to changes as early as Tuesday (November 16).

Corona in Bavaria: New rules come into force on Tuesday

A nationwide 2G rules should come into force on November 16, as the Ministry of Health announced on Friday in Munich. The current measures must be intensified as a matter of urgency. "The current situation is extremely dramatic and worrying," said Minister Klaus Holetschek. "Only with consistent access restrictions such as 2G can we succeed in protecting our health system from even more dramatic stress."

What the 2G regulations mean for the population: Guests in restaurants and hotels need proof of vaccination or recovery.

A 3G plus rule had previously applied there after the clinic traffic light in Bavaria had turned red.

The 2G rule has been in effect in other areas since last week, for example in fitness studios and sports facilities, in theaters, cinemas and museums, zoos, baths, solariums and cable cars as well as in tourist rail and coach traffic.

An overview of the rules for traffic light level red can be found here.

Children under the age of twelve and people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons are excluded from the 2G rule.

However, these then need a doctor's certificate and a negative test result.

Corona: New regulations also in Bavaria's discos

Party-goers also have to be prepared for a change in Bavaria's clubs and discos from Tuesday.

From next Tuesday, operators of night clubs in the Free State will have a choice, said Holetschek: “Either they establish a voluntary 2G-plus rule for their business or 2G applies.

An FFP2 mask must then be worn in the rooms. ”Bavaria also calls on the federal government to create“ a legal basis for mandatory 2G-plus in clubs and discos ”.

As the dpa learned on Friday from well-informed circles, services that are close to the body - such as hairdressers and foot care - are to be excluded from the stricter 2G requirement.

Unvaccinated people could still make appointments with a negative test result.

Söder announces another rule change: mask requirement also with 2G

On Sunday (November 14th), Markus Söder announced a further tightening of the currently applicable Corona rules in a press statement.

In the future, where the 2G rule applies, an FFP2 mask will also apply.

Previously, the 2G rule made it possible to completely do without masks there.

In addition, there should be a daily quick test in retirement homes.

In day-care centers, tests are now to be carried out three times a week instead of twice - as is already the case in schools.

The state government recommends booster vaccinations after just five months.

But that is not enough.

At the Corona summit next Thursday, Bavaria is campaigning for a nationwide 2G rule.

In addition, Söder calls for a compulsory vaccination for certain professions, 2G plus for all discos and clubs and a nationwide FFP2 mask requirement in local and long-distance traffic.

And, according to his own statements, he wants to work very hard to ensure that there will be upper limits on people for events - especially in football, but also elsewhere.
