After a debate, the German Bundestag passed changes to the Infection Protection Act with a majority of the SPD, Greens and FDP parliamentary groups.
According to this, among other things, the 3G rule at work and in public transport will apply nationwide.
For nursing homes and clinics, test obligations for employees and visitors are to be anchored.
In a roll-call vote on Thursday, 398 MPs voted in favor, 254 against and 36 abstained, as Bundestag Vice President Aydan Özoğuz (SPD) announced.
The epidemic of national proportions is expected to expire on November 25th.
The law now has to be approved by the Federal Council, which will hold a special session on Friday.
But the Union threatens to be rejected.
In the debate, politicians from the Union spoke out in favor of a prolongation of the epidemic situation.
However, the acting Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn supports the plans of the traffic light parties.
At a meeting of the Union parliamentary group, he campaigned for the new coalition to approve the amendment to the Infection Protection Act.
