With the participation of Syria, the final competitions for the World Robot Olympiad “WRO 2021” under the title “The Future of Energy” were launched today, with the participation of 217 teams representing 65 member countries of the World Robot Olympiad.
The Excellence and Creativity Authority stated in a statement that SANA received a copy of it that five teams represent Syria in the championship held by the Organizing Committee of the World Robot Olympiad and will continue until the twenty-first of this month. Last September, “two teams from the National Center for Excellence, a team from the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, and two teams from the Sierra Robo Club,” in addition to Dr. Muhib Al-Naqari, head of the Scientific Committee for Robotics in the Excellence and Creativity Authority and the Secretary of the Scientific Committee, Eng. Shiraz Shubassi, as referees approved for the competition by the organizing committee.
The Syrian teams participate, according to the Commission’s statement from the Ebla Hotel in Damascus, and within three competitions, the regular category, which includes “the primary for ages between (11 and 13) years, in which we are represented by one team, and in the middle category for ages between (13 and 15) years, in which we are represented by one team, as well as the upper category for ages Between 16 and 19 years old, one team represents us.
The competitions in the regular category competition are held in two phases, the first is through the sudden condition, and the team is given 24 hours to do the solution and implement the required tasks through the robot, and film a “video” of the implementation process and upload it to the official website of the tournament. The second team is waiting for a new task to be executed and uploaded by the same mechanism, and by the sum of the marks of the two days, the final results are calculated.
As for the second competition, which is the upper open category “Projects” for ages under 19, in which one team represents us, and participation in it takes place through a direct online interview between the participating team and the main jury in the organizing country, during which the team implements the required in a visual and direct way in front of the arbitration.
The third competition is the “Future Engineers” competition for ages under 19, and this is the first year in which this competition is held, in which one team represents us. In the event of qualification, the team will participate in the second day’s round.
The tournament is the largest and most prominent annual event in the world in the field of "robotics", where the World Robot Olympiad is an opportunity for young students from all over the world to meet to participate in competitions and educational challenges related to robotics with the aim of enhancing creativity, problem-solving and other personal skills.
