Langenpreisinger solar offensive

The sharply rising electricity prices are increasing the pressure: the so-called expansion of photovoltaic systems in Langenpreising has been slow to pick up speed.

Mayor Josef Straßer reports this in an interview with the local newspaper: "We recently added 15 systems."

Langenpreising - For the time being, the municipality has postponed a possible collaboration with a new company in Forstinning that deals with bundling demand for components for such systems.

“Power2Nature” has introduced itself to the community, but first, according to the mayor's words, they want to examine their own options.

Straßer confirms once again that there are still hurdles for the use of the free roof areas in municipal property such as on the gym or building yard, and that for the own municipal energy supply company EVU.

However, given the rising electricity prices, that could still be really exciting, says Straßer, and makes it clear that he has by no means put the issue aside.

It is important that feed-in can still be made when the sun is not shining.

Your own electricity generation must therefore become “base load capable”, and that is only possible with photovoltaic systems with electricity storage systems.

Straßer made it clear that this would now be given more intensive thought.

But that just takes time.

At the same time, however, Straßer wants to go back to public relations after the forced Corona break and is aiming for an event every quarter.

“We are hiding a bit,” he admits.

At the last meeting of the Energy Working Group, Gerhard Scholz from Moosburger Solarfreunde highlighted the great need for information and reported that many of them did not yet know the difference between photovoltaics and thermal solar energy use.

Straßer takes this up and promises further information events.

There are still many roofs that are actually suitable, not equipped.

In Langenpreising, too, there is increasing pressure on open spaces, for example along the motorway.

The community of Langenbach in the Freising district recently issued guidelines for the construction of open-space photovoltaic systems.

When asked about this, Straßer says that it will probably not work in the future without guidelines: “We can't just slam everything shut.” He makes a commitment: The use of existing roof areas has priority.

Straßer refers to models from Austria that enable agricultural land to be used for power generation without significantly restricting food production: "The combine harvester drives through in between." These systems are vertical.

In Donaueschingen, for example, this has been achieved on 14 hectares.

The solar power plant has 4.1 megawatts and is set up so that grass can be harvested in between.

The criticism of the Bavarian Farmers' Association that more and more areas are being withdrawn from food production can be invalidated because both are possible together.

Just like the Langenbachers, Straßer is also thinking of the “pre-stressed areas” along the motorway, which perhaps should be targeted more closely.
