R., a 74-year-old retiree from Jerusalem, was generally afraid of being infected in Corona through the fees of the house committee that she collects from her neighbors, as part of her position on the house committee for years.

However, particularly bad advice she received from a company caused her to accidentally burn close to ten thousand shekels.

Fearing Corona, R. decided to "disinfect" the bills in the microwave.

She put them in a plastic bowl with bleach, while wearing gloves, and warmed them.

Unsurprisingly, when she returned to the kitchen she smelled that something had been burned and discovered that all the bills had been burned.

However, this unusual story actually has a happy ending.

R. wrote to the Bank of Israel about the case, and the bank agreed to replace the defective banknotes with new ones, so that in the end no economic damage was done to it.

"I feel great guilt, both because it is money that does not belong to me and because I am a loyal citizen and I have never caused money to be corrupted," R. wrote to the Bank of Israel after the incident.

"I intend to put a calculator check on the above amount at the committee box office, and replace the defective banknotes.

It makes me frustrated and makes it even harder for me to get through these difficult days at home, not to mention the financial issue - my monthly income which is not a high pension. "
