LR Congress: supporters begin to believe in victory

If Xavier Bertrand is considered the LR candidate best embodying the values ​​of the right (30%), the president of Hauts-de-France comes in second place (22%), among all the French, but also among the Republican sympathizers.

Although he struggles to stand out from his competitors during the debates, it is Xavier Bertrand who seems most likely to win the presidential election, according to 39% of French respondents.

Michel Barnier appears to be a much less likely winner (19%), as does Valérie Pécresse (18%).

However, the majority of French respondents (58%) believe that the candidate invested by the Republicans will have difficulty winning.

Among LR supporters, only 25% fear a defeat of the winner of the congress.

After already two televised debates, the French are however far from having chosen their favorite in the camp of the Republicans.

None of the five candidates on the run, Xavier Bertrand, Michel Barnier, Valérie Pécresse, Éric Ciotti and Philippe Juvin, has yet to stand out.

Not only does none of the contenders fold the match, but not a single one of them reaches 50% of favorable opinions among all the French.

Xavier Bertrand comes slightly ahead with 42% of good opinion, against 41% for Michel Barnier and 38% for Valérie Pécresse.

A gap is nevertheless widening between the three candidates of the leading pack, and the two others, Eric Ciotti and Philippe Juvin, who each have 27% of good opinions.

Bertrand most likely to win in 2022

Support is naturally more marked among LR sympathizers.

They are 86% to have a good opinion of Xavier Bertrand, Michel Barnier peaks at 80% and Valérie Pécresse at 78%.

Here again, the gap is widening with Éric Ciotti (58%) and Philippe Juvin (51%).

On purchasing power, security, immigration, health and education, Xavier Bertrand is a short head ahead of all his competitors and appears to be the LR candidate most likely to improve the country's situation.

It is only in France's place internationally that Michel Barnier, former Brexit negotiator, gains the most confidence from the French (28%), ahead of Xavier Bertrand (27%) Valérie Pécresse (19%).

Eric Ciotti stands out slightly on the issue of immigration, because he is the second (21%) that supporters of the Republicans trust the most to manage this issue, but far behind Xavier Bertrand (37%).

Two further debates will take place between the candidates.

After the second debate on November 14, Valérie Pécresse was for example the most mentioned candidate on social networks (32.3%), ahead of Xavier Bertrand (26.4%) and Éric Ciotti (19.6%).

Internet users, however, want journalists to leave this time immigration and security topics, to better understand the other proposals of the candidates.

About two weeks before the vote of the 150,000 members, the game is far from over.
