Havana-Sana

A member of the European Parliament for the united Spanish left, Mano Pineda, denounced the coercive economic measures imposed on Syria by the United States of America and the European Union, pointing to the failure of the countries conspiring against Syria to achieve their goals.

Pineda said, during his meeting with the Syrian ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Idris Mia, at the Syrian Residence in Havana that the coercive economic measures imposed on Syria "crossed all red lines, especially during the period of the Corona pandemic," noting that these measures "deprive Syria of obtaining medicines from the global market." “.

Pineda, who is on a solidarity visit to Cuba, added that "the countries conspiring against Syria have failed to achieve their goals... Therefore, these countries are targeting Syria through economic and diplomatic means and obstructing a political solution to the crisis in it."

Pineda stressed that he is working hard with his colleagues in the European Union "for a new relationship with Syria and for the return of diplomatic relations between the bloc's countries and Syria to their normal course."

In turn, Ambassador Maya referred during the meeting to the efforts made by the Syrian government to pursue the remnants of terrorism and eradicate it from all Syrian lands and to secure a dignified return for the displaced.

Ambassador Mia noted the role of parliamentarians in strengthening relations between countries and peoples of the world.
