When they changed apartment last year, Jean-Jacques and Sophie, two in their thirties in Paris, thought they were leaving behind the moths that had ravaged part of their wardrobe the previous winter.
“There were holes in the sweaters, coats, some blazers… A disaster.
We thought, however, that it was linked to our previous home, quite humid, in an old building.
But we had to bring some back in the boxes, because quickly, we started to see more and more flying near our cupboards ”
, they relate, disillusioned.
In fact, since moths cannot travel long distances, it is extremely rare for them to enter a home through windows, except in very dense urban areas.
Often they come with vintage clothing or an old rug.
A challenge for museums which archive textiles.
