Vaccination appointments are suddenly in demand again.

Munich is increasing its capacities, and demand is also increasing among general practitioners.

The number of booster vaccinations has also increased.

Munich - The demand for vaccinations had subsided for months - now the hunt for appointments is starting all over again.

Especially for the booster vaccinations.

For days there have been long queues in front of branch offices such as Marienplatz in Munich.

And the house doctors are running into their booth again, as was the case last during the early summer months.

Georg-Eike Böhme, family doctor from Lehel, reports, for example: “The demand is extremely high.” In order to be able to administer the booster vaccination to as many patients as possible, special vaccination campaigns take place in his practice.

"We could immunize even more people if we got enough vaccine," says Böhme.

Almost all risk patients * would have received the booster.

But all other patients can also register with general practitioners and specialists for the booster.

"It is important to make an appointment beforehand," says Michael Stahn from the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians.

"Doctors have to order the vaccine."

Munich: Booster vaccination against Corona prefer to make an appointment - but after five months

The Bavarian Ministry of Health has now asked the vaccination centers in writing to give everyone, regardless of age, a booster vaccination against Corona after five and not six months. "Refusals of those willing to vaccinate should not take place, if possible," it says in the letter. The city is taking this new directive to heart with immediate effect, as the health department announced on request. Jodok Müller from the Bavarian State Medical Association says: "After five months you can definitely ask your doctor about a booster vaccination."

Due to the high demand, an appointment must be made in the city's four branch offices on Theresienwiese, Marienplatz, in the Pasing Arcaden and in the KVR via BayIMCO (www.impfzentren.bayern).

This is also recommended for the Riem vaccination center.

The waiting times could be shortened in this way, according to the health department.

Munich people ignite the vaccine turbo - the city reports new corona record numbers

The earliest appointments at the vaccination center and its branch offices are currently available in around four weeks - unless you catch an appointment that has been canceled at short notice. At the end of last week you only had to wait about a week for an appointment after booking. According to the health department, the city of Munich * can currently vaccinate 3500 people per day in Riem, in the four fixed branch offices and during the mobile campaigns. The aim is to be able to offer around 30,000 vaccinations a week again soon - then new appointments will also come into the system. The center in Riem is currently open Saturday to Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5.45 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, the city reports new record numbers for the mobile campaigns and the branch offices.

In the previous week, 17,885 people were vaccinated (4768 first, 4487 second and 8630 third vaccinations).

Of these, 7813 vaccinations took place in Riem, 7258 at the branch offices and 2814 during special campaigns.

The number of booster vaccinations in Munich has more than doubled within two weeks from 30,000 (as of November 3) to currently 62,500.
