In order to ensure the care of Covid-19 patients and emergencies in the critical occupancy situation of the clinics - locally and nationally -, operations are suspended without urgency at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic and the Murnau Accident Clinic.
The government of Upper Bavaria has named the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic as well as the Murnau professional association accident clinic (together with other clinics in the ZRF Oberland) as a COVID-19 focus hospital. This means that all inpatient treatments and outpatient operations that can be postponed from a medical point of view are to be refrained from. This is intended to ensure the care of Covid 19 patients and emergencies in the critical occupancy situation of the clinics on site and nationwide.
In view of the tense situation in the Upper Bavarian hospitals, the government of Upper Bavaria has obliged the COVID-19 focus hospitals in the entire administrative region to refrain from all postponable inpatient treatments. The inpatient capacities are to be reserved for the treatment of emergency patients, COVID-19 patients and patients whose treatment cannot be postponed for medical reasons. The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic is still available for all emergency patients.
“The development in the Upper Bavarian hospitals gives cause for concern. The staff in the clinics have been working at the limit of physical and psychological stress for some time. I am aware that the cancellation or postponement of treatments is a burden for many patients. Unfortunately, the worsening situation in the Upper Bavarian hospitals leaves us with no other choice, ”says District President Maria Els.
If treatments that have already been planned have to be canceled due to the decision of the Upper Bavarian government, the affected patients will be informed by the respective hospitals.
Visitor stop:
Due to the current Corona situation, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic is also forced to no longer admit visitors from Saturday, November 20.
Exceptions are made for fathers or companions during the birth, one parent with a sick child and a relative who is caring for the dying.
