The number of corona infections is increasing rapidly.

This is also noticeable in the clinics in Brandenburg.

For some, however, the virus infection is only a coincidental finding.

Potsdam - The situation is serious. In the intensive care units of the hospitals in Brandenburg, the occupancy with patients is increasing - including those with and without corona symptoms. More and more houses have already reopened their isolation wards for people with a corona infection, visiting bans have been introduced or are being discussed. Movable, plannable OPs are moved. In the Ernst von Bergmann Clinic in Potsdam, the weekly crisis team wanted to vote on a visit ban on Wednesday. The Prignitz district hospital opened its isolation ward on Wednesday, as spokeswoman Jacqueline Braun said on a dpa request.

The region was spared high numbers of infections for a long time.

Now, however, the corona cases are also increasing sharply here.

There are currently six patients with corona infection in the district hospital, as Braun said.

About half came to the hospital because of other complaints.

It was only during the test that the virus was found to be infected.

The hospital has not yet introduced a ban on visits.

Everyone, whether vaccinated, recovered or neither, has been tested since Monday, as provided by the current handling ordinance.

A patient can receive one visitor per day in the facility.

Two of the six corona patients who are currently in the house come from surrounding districts.

With them, the infection with the virus was a secondary finding.

According to the house, Corona patients from other districts are housed in the Carl Thiem Clinic in Cottbus. Here, too, some of them came to the clinic without typical corona symptoms. The clinic introduced a ban on visits on Wednesday - but with exceptions: children and the dying can still be visited. Exceptions are also made in individual cases in the intensive care unit, as clinic spokeswoman Anja Kabisch said. In the case of deliveries, partners are still allowed to go into the delivery room.

There is also a visitor stop in the Evangelical Hospital Luckau (Dahme-Spreewald), as spokesman Alexander Schulz said.

There are exceptions here, too.

The facility and the Evangelical Hospital Ludwigsfelde-Teltow are at their capacity limits.

If the situation continued to develop like this, more capacities would have to be created at the expense of postponable operations.

In the Ernst von Bergmann Clinic in Potsdam, no patients have yet been transferred, as the facility announced.

There are currently seven corona patients in the hospital's intensive care unit, and 17 more in the normal ward.

The situation was relatively "stable" the last few days, said spokeswoman Theresa Decker.

According to the Ministry of Health, hospitals in southern Brandenburg had to move patients with Covid 19 disease.

This included, in particular, relocations from smaller hospitals to hospitals with higher levels of care, i.e. those with specialty care, as spokesman Gabriel Hesse said.

Specialized hospitals have more beds and go beyond basic care.

The patients were relocated within the region or within the country.

According to the Divi intensive care register, there are currently no more free intensive care beds in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district.

In the Elbe-Elster and Teltow-Fläming districts and the independent city of Brandenburg an der Havel, an intensive care bed was still available on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, 395 people with Covid-19 disease are currently being treated in the hospital, 81 of them are in intensive care, of which 68 have to be ventilated (as of Tuesday).

The number of patients with Covid 19 disease being treated as inpatients within the last seven days per 100,000 inhabitants was 2.88.

Nationwide, 7.8 percent of the theoretically maximum available intensive care beds (that is 1032) in hospitals are occupied by Covid 19 patients.

According to the ministry, all patients who have tested positive for the virus, for example when they are admitted to hospital, are recorded in the statistics.

The significant increase in corona infections is also causing the number of intensive care patients to skyrocket again.

The health minister was also surprised by the sharp increase.

For the hospitals, she demands help from the federal government and wants a legal basis for it.

The situation in many clinics is critical due to corona exposure

When it comes to new corona infections, Saxony and Thuringia are by far the best when compared to the federal states - and at the same time it is lagging behind in vaccinations against the virus nationwide.

Hospitals in the Free State are sounding the alarm.

"The rescue services and houses coordinate with each other," said Michael Jacob, managing director of the state hospital company.

If the development of the past few weeks continued like this, the clinics would soon reach their limits.
