Energy in concrete terms: The Sauerlach municipal council has now decided at the meeting to build a wind farm in the area of the Hofoldinger forest.

Sauerlach

- The prerequisite for this is that the second reports on economic efficiency are also positive, according to the draft resolution.

In addition, the wind farm is to be “created and operated as part of a public participation model”.

So sales with environmental protection.

In 2024, according to the plan, three wind turbines are to be built in the area of the shared municipal borders with Otterfing and Aying.

In terms of planning law, the adaptation of the landscape protection area "Hofoldinger and Höhenkirchner Forest in the Munich district" is still missing.

However, according to the Munich District Office, this process can be carried out in parallel to the application process for the wind turbines.

Approval applications could therefore already be available next spring.

The district office is currently chairing the Arge Windenergie Hofoldinger Forst, which has been developing joint plans for corresponding systems on the A8 since 2013.

Opinions give reason for confidence

In the Sauerlach town hall, people are confident and resolute when it comes to wind power: "The previous reports - which have already been presented to the local council - suggest that a wind farm in the Hofoldinger Forest will run economically".

The goal is a broad “energy mix from renewable energy sources”.

It is said that the use of wind energy is an option.

And this against the background "that the systems can now be operated economically on so-called low-wind locations".

In other words, even mild breezes then provide electricity.

In addition, “the ecological and aesthetic effects of the landscape” were found to be justifiable.

Ground damage must be accepted

Because such a wind farm cannot be had without damage to the fields: Areas in the Hofoldinger Forest have to be cleared for the construction project.

It is currently estimated that around 6,000 square meters will be sacrificed to the chainsaw for clean electricity.

Corresponding afforestation elsewhere is nevertheless planned.

Citizens should participate

This is nothing less than a cross-community project: Otterfing, Aying and Sauerlach want to set up an operator GmbH for the wind turbines, Windenergie Hofoldinger Forst GmbH.

According to the current draft resolution, its share capital should total EUR 30,000, with Sauerlach contributing EUR 10,000.

In addition, the municipalities want to enable their citizens to participate financially in the major project: around 30 percent of the total costs (around 18 million euros) could be covered in this way by so-called citizen contributions, according to the calculation.

The municipality of Sauerlach has left a back door open despite all the hype about wind power: "Should implementation become impossible for ecological or economic reasons," it says in the draft resolution, "the project can still be stopped."
