In the case of regulatory offenses in road traffic, drivers in Bavaria can now be amazed at their ticket.

Because it looks different now.

The digital ticket is now available for all of Bavaria!

Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann announced this in Nuremberg on Thursday.

The pilot phase in Munich has been running since June.

It is to be used across the board from January 2022.

The minister appealed to all road users: “Be sure to follow the traffic rules!

It would be good if the police had to use the mOwi app as little as possible. "

And this is how the digital parking ticket works: In the event of an administrative offense, such as wrong parking, an officer attaches a slip with a QR code to the windshield of the car - or in other cases hands it over personally (such as when driving without wearing a seat belt).

The police officer previously typed the offense into his smartphone using the so-called mOwi app.

Old tickets are still valid

The incident is automatically saved in the police data network and does not have to be entered afterwards.

That saves the officers a lot of time.

The driver can then scan the QR code or type in the link on the PC.

He can then log into the so-called citizen portal online, enter his license number and transfer the penalty directly.

However, the vehicle owner will still be informed of the warning by post.

The Free State has invested around 650,000 euros in the app and citizen portal.

In Munich, the digital ticket was initially tested in three quarters from June.

The deployment was then expanded from August.

The conclusion of the pilot phase was fundamentally positive.

The well-known tickets have not yet had their day, they still apply.

A spokesman for the Munich police explained: "We still have a lot of old pads that are used up and not thrown away."
