Success of Abraham's Agreements - Calling Erdogan to Change Disk | Israel today

2021-11-18T21:27:29.107Z

At the end of a politically interesting week, the crisis with Turkey ended successfully thanks to the current government • A visit to the Emirates proved that peace with the Gulf was a tremendous achievement of the Trump administration and the previous leadership

On October 21, the Turkish newspaper Sabah reported that at the end of an extensive operation by the Turkish security forces, 15 Mossad personnel were arrested.

The surprising news did not particularly excite us, as it was quite clear that this was not the credible news of the year.

But the newspaper report should have lit a red light for us.

Although Israel did not respond, and rightly so, Turkey was actually expected to respond.

Ankara can not ignore such a story, which is still being published in a newspaper close to the regime.

Nine days ago, a couple of Israeli tourists, the rebels and Natalie Oknin, toured the Chameley Tower on the Asian side of the magical city during a vacation in Istanbul, and photographed the landscapes.

Since the Turkish news of the arrest of Mossad agents was not accompanied by a travel warning, they were convinced (rightly) that there was no danger in photographing Erdogan's private residence documented on the networks.

Who believed that innocent photography would send them into custody and lead to a crisis between the countries, which were able to manage it very efficiently and in perfect coordination between the various systems.

An entire country could breathe a sigh of relief yesterday (social media will forgive me, but in the case of the couple's arrest, they acted like an extra-territorial entity to the country).

President Herzog, Prime Minister Bennett, Foreign Minister Lapid and Mossad chief Barnea have successfully overcome their first crisis.

Not everything is a position: the atmosphere should be calmed.

It is also permissible to pardon the government when it succeeds.

The country is ours.

Everyone wondered what Erdogan got.

It is said that the President of Turkey is looking for attention and received a phone call with President Herzog.

In difficult days for Erdogan's Turkey, which has over-adopted political Islam, such a happy ending gives it credit in the international community.

Turkey, which is in a difficult economic crisis and facing a difficult image problem, is also looking for public relations.

It does not cost us much, and for Turkey it is worth gold.

It's just a pity that the Oknin couple did not know that an all - inclusive trip in Turkey also includes spending eight days in detention.

Thank God, they're back home.

The banality of the relationship

This week I returned to the Emirates after a long absence.

The last time was in January 2010. Since then a lot of water has passed through Jordan, even if, apparently, not enough.

This time I entered for the first time in my life with an Israeli passport.

Long live the difference.

No more French passport that allowed me to get to Iraq during the Gulf War via Qatar, Kuwait, and most pleasantly through the Emirates.

The Avraham agreements made the Israeli passport not only relevant in the Gulf, but also a friendly and even sought-after passport.

Bismuth in Burj Khalifa,

I visited Abu Dhabi and from there went on a tour of the Emirates University in the desert capital of al-Ain.

And of course Dubai.

How is it possible without this amazing city, which is constantly evolving.

I spoke Hebrew, I heard Hebrew and of course at the Expo in Dubai I did not stop to see Arab locals and tourists from the area visiting and taking pictures against the background of our flag.

Peace between peoples is called that.

No peace between leaders.

No peace in the dark.

Not a mistress's relationship.

It's over.

And this is the amazing thing about the Abrahamic covenants.

Tried to downplay their importance.

Remember?

Tried to say it's just a banal agreement.

That it's an agreement to get an F-35.

We saw very quickly how much it was nonsense.

This peace is in the interest of the Emirates, who have bravely gambled on the connection with us.

For their people, for us and also for the region.

So it is true that in the Expo exhibition the Palestinian pavilion was attached to their pavilion, because when you are a country like the Emirates you must constantly balance, but as our political correspondent Ariel Kahana reported, quoting a source from the Emirates, "We talk to everyone".

And that's their greatness.

This banal agreement turned our relationship with a large Arab population into a banal one.

And that's the big deal.

The banality of the relationship.

And indirectly it has also contributed to the heating of relations with Egypt and Jordan, who understand that they have a rivalry here, and peace between peoples is better than peace between leaders.

Peace without feelings of inferiority.

Boaz Bismuth on a flight to Israel via Saudi Arabia,

We'll get to Saudi Arabia later

We will return to Turkey.

Remember the peripheral alliance of David Ben-Gurion of yesteryear, who realized that a regional relationship needed to be forged?

And without Arab friends - he turned to Turkey, Iran, Chad and Ethiopia.

Today as if the business had turned upside down.

Iran is far from a friend and has even become the greatness of our enemies.

When it comes to Turkey with political Islam (Muslim Brotherhood), which it spreads in Libya, Jerusalem and even across Africa, it is not exactly a fan of Zion in the Erdogan era.

In contrast, in the Gulf suddenly, and also in the Arab Maghreb, we began to gather Arab friends.

Ben-Gurion turns over in his grave.

But it should be remembered that today's Turkey and Iran are not the Turkey and 1950s Iran.

The Sunni Muslim Brotherhood and the Shiite ayatollahs were not exactly then in the era of the periphery alliance.

And the Arab neighbors - at least some of them - have undergone a major change.

It is claimed that a third country helped solve the crisis, even if Jerusalem insists that even if it were right, we would not need it.

Either way, it was a successful and interesting week.

The rebels and Natalie Oknin returned home, a crisis that could have lasted weeks, if not months, resolved by the efficient work of the Bennett-Lapid government.

Of course, the fact that they really were not spies also helped the achievement.

The trip to the Emirates proved to me what I already knew: the Abrahamic Accords were a tremendous achievement of the Trump administration and of the Crown Prince of the Emirates, and of course of the Israeli government as well.

Mostly the direct flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, just like the return flight from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi over Saudi Arabia, proved to us that there is indeed a new Middle East and especially that normalization is a necessary condition for true peace.

Presumably at this rate - and forgive me Elon Musk and Richard Branson - we will reach Saudi Arabia long before we reach the moon.

The Abrahamic agreements created a new climate in the Middle East, where Erdogan also understands that a diskette may need to be changed.

Israel did well to contribute the ladder.

And I do not know why, I also want to say thank you to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Muhammad bin Zayed.
