Syria has obtained membership in four of the committees emanating from the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization "UNESCO", which is currently being held in Paris in its 41st session.
The four committees are the “Government Council of the International Hydrological Program and the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sports (CIGPS), the Legal Committee and the Headquarters Committee” and the term of membership is two years from the current year until 2023.
The committees emanating from the General Conference of UNESCO include “the Legal Committee, the Headquarters Committee, the Conciliation Committee and the Good Offices Committee entrusted with seeking to settle any disputes that may arise between states party to the Convention on Combating Discrimination in Education, the Council of the International Bureau of Education for UNESCO and the Intergovernmental Council for the Information and Communication Program.”
It is noteworthy that the 41st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization “UNESCO” started in Paris on the 9th of this November and will continue until the twenty-fourth of it. Including the fourth goal related to the quality of education, science, artificial intelligence, and the tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The participating Syrian delegation includes representatives from the Ministries of Education, Higher Education, Scientific Research, Culture and Information, and the Syrian Ambassador to UNESCO, Lamia Shakur.
