Munich - The regions of Austria most affected by the pandemic want to impose a lockdown on the general population.
This was announced by the Prime Ministers of Salzburg and Upper Austria on Thursday.
Details should be announced later in the day.
Whether further nationwide measures will be taken in addition to the existing lockdown for unvaccinated people throughout Austria will be decided in talks between the federal and state governments on Friday.
On Thursday, the number of new infections within 24 hours in Austria reached a record of 15,145.
