The Government announced today (18th) that Yu Baomei, Deputy Director of the Buildings Department, will assume the post of Director of the Buildings Department on November 29 to replace Yu Te-hsiang, who is on leave before retirement. Yu Baomei joined the government in April 1996 as a building surveyor

Yu Baomei joined the government in April 1996 as a building surveyor.

She was promoted to Chief Building Surveyor in September 2011, and to Government Building Surveyor in January 2017. She was promoted to Deputy Director of Buildings Department in August 2020.

The Secretary for Civil Service, Nie Dequan, said that Yu Baomei possesses leadership skills, and has professional knowledge and operational experience in building safety. She believes that she can lead the Buildings Department to face the challenges ahead.

As for Yu Dexiang, who is about to retire, Nie Dequan said that Yu Dexiang has served the government for 36 years, leading the department to determine and implement safety, health and environmental standards for private buildings, and has made significant contributions.
