For the first time, Poing was recognized as a “bee-friendly community” by the Upper Bavaria district.
Poing - 42 municipalities were also given the title.
The award for “Bee-friendly community 2021” is a confirmation of the work done by citizens, associations, schools and the community to campaign for species protection.
In recent years, numerous projects have been implemented in Poing to create better living conditions for bees and insects.
These have now been recognized by the recognition award.
Several criteria had to be met in order to be selected by the jury of experts and members of the district assembly.
Community areas such as traffic islands or orchards must be planted in a bee and insect friendly way.
The grass verges on community streets must be treated in a bee-friendly manner and the lighting must be insect-friendly.
With further voluntary measures, municipalities were able to collect additional points.
For example, when they have insect hotels, hedges and scrap wood, run a bee and insect nature trail or promote educational offers on the subject of bees.
