Now the foster mother from Schlagenhofen wants to give something back: for the benefit of the Gilchinger Verein she is auctioning two paintings by Ludwig Maria Beck, Gautingern also known as "Lulu".

Schlagenhofen / Gauting

- “It's time to part with things that have been with you for decades, but which you have to say goodbye to at some point,” says Vera Pein, who has her roots in Gauting. The foster mother from the Schlagenhofen district of Inningen speaks of two originals from the workshop of the Gautingen painter Ludwig Maria Beck. “We were neighbors to the Becks at the time. For me as a child, the neighboring garden with the witch's house in the middle was a real paradise, ”she remembers. And her father Georg was a friend of "Lulu", as the painter was affectionately known in artistic circles.

“When the occasion came, including a big birthday for my father, Beck would sit down and paint a picture especially for him. I was often allowed to look over the painter's shoulder. After the death of my parents, I inherited the pictures. ”The works are titled“ Hamburger Hafen ”with old Michel - Vera Pein's father came from Hamburg - and“ Observations in a train compartment ”.

Vera Pein, who has been supported by the Children's Island Association based in Gilching for years, admits that it is not easy for her to part with the originals. But since families and children in need can be financially supported through the sale of the works - the proceeds go to the children's island - it is easier to let go. “My own children are not interested in it. And since I know from my own experience that there are families with children in the region who are not doing so well financially, and that I have received financial and personal support from the association through donations over many years, I would now like to also make a small contribution and give something back. "

As reported, Vera Pein has been looking after foster children for more than 30 years, many of whom have had bad experiences and tried to find peace in the Pein home. In total, there were more than 60 boys and girls who stayed with her on a long-term basis or only for a few days in emergencies. Currently in the care of the 64-year-old former doctor's assistant are three girls between the ages of 7 and 17 and a five-year-old boy. 25-year-old David, who is currently doing an internship at the Seefeld Hospital, also lives under her roof.

The works by Ludwig Maria Beck (1905-1983) are now to be sold to the highest bidder.

“I think that the Gautingers in particular are interested in Beck's work.

Perhaps there is even a collector who wants to add the two works to his collection, ”says Vera Pein.

Offers are accepted at the email address kinder.insel@web.de.
