"The ends of the month are not the same": the employees of Dassault in Argenteuil on strike for eight months

2021-11-19T11:52:01.445Z

The management had proposed 0.5% general salary increase for 2020 and 2021. For next year, it is ready to grant 1.5%

Olivier, 29, is one of the employees of the Dassault Aviation site in Argenteuil who have been on strike for three hours every Friday… for eight months.

"It's 200 euros less per month," he says.

Nevertheless, like many other colleagues, he is determined to continue the movement in order to obtain an increase in his salary.

"We have no recognition," he laments.

He works in 2 x 8 on the layout of the Rafale.

Its service starts at 5:30 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. or starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m.

The increase granted last year was reflected on his payslip by ten euros more per month.

"We are forced to restrict ourselves"

He receives a monthly salary of around 2,500 euros per month after twenty years of seniority.

“It increased at first, but not too much for a while.

The time between two promotions is no longer the same, ”he emphasizes.

He observes that his colleagues hired in recent years have experienced less favorable developments.

Inflation has risen sharply since the start of the year.

The consumer price index stood at 2.6% annually for October, against 1.1% in March, at the start of the strike.

“We see it on everything, on electricity, gas, our shopping cart when we go shopping.

The end of the month is no longer the same, ”sighs Olivier.

He must cut back on leisure, outings with the children, evenings out at restaurants.

"We are forced to restrict ourselves", he sums up.

Every day, he travels 42 km to come.

“To buy here, it was too expensive,” he says.

He lives in Bernes-sur-Oise, on the edge of Île-de-France.

Some will even live further away.

A colleague, at his side, specifies that he lives in the Aisne.

"Me, I have 80 km to come, so the fuel ...", he emphasizes.

Another colleague, aged 29, regrets not having enough money to stay in the private park while having too much income to access social housing.

He lives in L'Hay-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne) with his parents while waiting to find something better.

Management proposes a general increase of 1.5%

The movement was launched on March 19 by the CGT union in the wake of compulsory annual negotiations (NAO) to protest against the level of the general increase proposed by management: 0.5% for 2020 and 2021.

The management of Dassault Aviation emphasizes having proposed for executives individual increases of a total amount representing 3.1% of the payroll.

For the other categories of staff, it proposes a 1.5% general increase, as well as a 0.5% increase in the seniority bonus and a 0.8% individual increase.

The CGT fulminates.

“NAOs at this price, we don't want them.

We walk on our heads, they don't care about the world.

No cash?

No plane!

“, Ton Yannick Duigou, secretary of the CSE and elected CGT, in front of nearly 120 employees.

The union believes that these wage measures are unrelated to the company's financial results.

The aircraft manufacturer's adjusted sales amounted to € 3.1 billion in the first half of 2021, compared to € 2.64 billion in the same period last year.
