15% of the unemployed are not actively looking for a job

This is the result of checks on job seekers carried out by the State. The government now wants to intensify them.


Invited on RMC this Friday, the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne was asked about the proportion of unemployed people actively seeking employment.

“When we do checks, the majority of job seekers are actively looking for a job.

There are about 15% who are not sufficiently active in their job searches, who may have a sanction, therefore a temporary abolition of their allowance, ”

replied Elisabeth Borne.

The minister confirms that the government wants to tighten controls.

This announcement follows Emmanuel Macron's speech on November 9.

The president was annoyed to see that a large number of job offers remained unfilled while unemployment still concerns more than 3 million people in France.
