Three Icelandic horses on the railway line between Markt Schwaben and Hörlkofen ensured an extraordinary police operation.
The animals kept the federal police on their toes.
Hörlkofen
- Federal police officers "arrested" the animals that had escaped from their enclosure on Thursday on the embankment between Markt Schwaben and Hörlkofen.
The horses had stayed near the tracks and temporarily paralyzed the train traffic on the single-track route.
The police announced on Friday.
At around 11.30 a.m., the emergency control center of the Munich Federal Police reported that there were three horses in the track area on the single-track route between Markt Schwaben and Hörlkofen, the police reported. A regional train, the driver of which recognized the situation and initiated the braking, stopped on the open road. After the arrival of the federal police it was quickly established that the animals belong to a farm in the neighborhood. To be on the safe side, the officers caused the track to be temporarily closed.
By the time the 54-year-old owner of the Icelanders arrived, an officer managed to remove a horse from the danger area.
However, the two other animals were not easily persuaded to leave, so the owner had to come with a halter and leash to fetch her favorites from the embankment.
According to initial findings, the three runaways overcame a paddock secured with an electric fence.
Around 1 p.m., the train traffic could roll again unhindered, said a police spokesman.
