Following the decision on a curfew on the unvaccinated, Austria is tightening restrictions, with the country imposing a closure on the entire population:
The Austrian government announced today (Friday) that the country will re-impose a full closure this fall to deal with the wave of morbidity across Europe.
This will make Austria the first country in Western Europe to start a full closure due to the latest wave of morbidity.
"The closure will last at least 10 days and may extend to a maximum of 20 days," Chancellor Alexander Schlenberg said at a news conference, adding that the obligation to get vaccinated would be introduced on February 1.

As you may recall, Austria announced earlier this week a closure for residents of the country who have not been vaccinated against the virus.
The decision was made with the aim of pressuring the unvaccinated to respond to the vaccination campaign being conducted in the European country, with an increase in morbidity on the continent in the background - with about 13,000 new cases a day.
"This is a step taken with a heavy heart, but we have no choice but to raise the rate of immunizations, it is shamefully low," Schlenberg said after the decision was announced.
