A fire in 2019 seriously affected the Seehotel Waltershof in Rottach-Egern.
It is now clear: The building is to be torn down and a new Waltershof built.
Rottach-Egern
- The demolition and new construction of the Seehotel Waltershof in Seestrasse almost remained just a footnote in the latest municipal council meeting.
Because there the committee gave a very brief and unanimously positive decision on the change to the development plan “Malerwinkel / Seestraße / Fürstenstraße”.
It was on the agenda because the hotel owner - S + K Hotel und Gaststätten Betriebs GmbH, which belongs to Schmidhauser Grundstücksgesellschaft in Pullach - decided to redevelop the building.
Fire in the cellar has permanently damaged the property of the Waltershof Hotel
"The 2019 fire caused a lot of things to break substantially," says Stephan Mix from the property company when asked.
The pipe and pipe system is particularly affected.
After the fire in the basement, which caused temperatures of up to 1000 degrees, the hotel was renovated and reopened.
However, as has become clear in recent months, the high temperatures have permanently damaged the substance of the building from the 1980s.
Consultations have shown: A new Waltershof building makes the most sense
According to Mix, various renovation and expansion options have therefore been discussed with the municipality in the past few months.
Ultimately, however, the conclusion was reached that re-planning the Seehotel Waltershof would make the most sense financially and also for the tourist business.
In short: the existing building is to be demolished and a new Waltershof built.
Possible expansion requires changes to the development plan
It may take a while before that happens.
S + K is currently in the preliminary planning phase.
However, with a potential expansion of the building, this deviates from the current development plan, which is why the municipality has already initiated a change to the plan.
The municipality opens the procedure with the unanimous decision.
For the owner it is the signal to be able to continue with the planning.
