On Sunday, November 21st, the time has come: The citizens of Moosburg will vote on the expansion plans of ELA Container GmbH.

An overview.

Moosburg

- This dispute has been smoldering in the Moosburg district of Pfrombach for years: ELA Container GmbH wants to expand its location, and concerned residents and citizens want to prevent this.

A referendum should now bring the decision on Sunday.

What has happened so far

In the Moosburg district of Pfrombach there is an approximately 5.5 hectare industrial park that was used by the Nau company until 2013.

In the course of restructuring the company, around half of the space was vacated and sold to ELA Container.

Now the ELA company would like to expand its approximately 2.5 hectare existing site by 2.4 hectares.

Office and hall buildings as well as storage and traffic areas for the containers are planned there.

In addition, compensation and biotope areas are to be created.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

But there is massive resistance against the project.

In many rounds of talks and on-site visits in recent years, attempts have been made to reconcile the interests of the company, local politicians, the city administration and the citizens.

In the meantime, a citizens' initiative has been founded, which ultimately won the referendum on Sunday.

These are the arguments of BI

The citizens' initiative wants to prevent "several hectares of high-quality soil from being irretrievably transformed into a concrete surface for containers".

As a result, according to the BI, “valuable natural and arable land and the quality of life in the region would be lost”.

The ELA critics emphasize: "We are fighting to preserve the character of the region around Moosburg and defend ourselves against the further haphazard proliferation of industrial areas, traffic and noise."

BI would like to stand up for the quality of life: “We want to maintain the quality of life in the region between Munich and Landshut.

Business, noise and traffic should be bundled in a meaningful place. "The focus is also on nature and agriculture:" We are fighting for the preservation of valuable soil on the edge of the Isar valley.

Several hectares of the best soil that has been created over millennia would be sealed.

Natural resources would be sacrificed to a concrete area for container storage. ”On the subject of sustainability it says:“ We want urban and regional planning that is geared to the needs of the people in the region.

We consider the current local politics with priority consideration of economic interests to the detriment of people and nature to be out of date. "

That's what the ELA managing director says

ELA managing director Günter Albers emphasizes that a compromise has already been found in the dialogue with the citizens' initiative, which provides for a considerable reduction in area. “In a dialogue with the citizens' initiative almost two years ago, we reduced our originally planned 4.8 hectares of expansion area by half, so that only 2.45 hectares are earmarked for expanded commercial space. Another 1.6 hectares will be used as compensation area with a large orchard meadow, through which the existing conventionally used arable land will be ecologically upgraded. ”Furthermore, the cultivation of the meadow and the fruit trees are fully self-financed by ELA.

Günter Albers is sympathetic to the residents, who are concerned that the extension could significantly change the landscape in Pfrombach: “In order to preserve the view of nature, the expanded company premises on a total of 0.54 hectares will be surrounded by a ten meter wide green belt enclosed and the containers are stacked a maximum of twice. "

The decision will be made on Sunday

All arguments have now been exchanged.

On Sunday it is now in the hands of the citizens: they can vote as part of the referendum.

The question is: “Are you in favor of stopping all municipal planning that serves to designate the 'Containerbau ELA' industrial park in Pfrombach?” How the citizens voted, interested parties can find out on Sunday from 6 p.m. on the city's website at www .moosburg.de / startseite (button “results of the referendum”).
