The federal and state governments have agreed on uniform and comprehensive corona measures throughout Germany. Three threshold values are decisive here.

The federal and state governments have agreed on uniform and comprehensive corona measures throughout Germany.

Three threshold values are decisive here.

Berlin - At the Corona summit on November 18, the prime ministers decided on a three-stage plan.

The hospitalization rate is decisive and written down in a draft resolution.

If the value in a federal state rises above the

threshold value three, six or nine

, tightened access restrictions in public life apply there.

Hospitalization rate decides about new corona measures

For every 100,000 inhabitants of the respective federal state, the hospitalization incidence indicates the number of corona patients admitted to clinics within seven days.

"The situation is highly dramatic," said Chancellor Angela Merkel, summarizing the current pandemic situation in the meeting.

Some federal states have already cracked the first threshold values.

Hospitalization threshold above three: 2G rule applies - eight federal states are currently affected

If a federal state reaches a hospitalization rate of three, the 2G rule applies.

Means: From then on, only those who have been vaccinated or recovered may participate in leisure, cultural or sporting events.

The same applies in the catering sector, for body-hugging services and applications.

Unauthorized persons are not allowed to enter any of these areas, even if the test results are negative.

The following countries are currently affected by the restrictions (as of November 18, RKI):

  • Brandenburg:

    3.52

  • Berlin:

    3

  • Bremen:

    4.41

  • Hesse:

    4.8

  • Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania:

    5.96

  • North Rhine-Westphalia:

    4.08

  • Rhineland-Palatinate:

    3.34

  • Saxony:

    4.14

Corona measures: for whom and for how long the 2G rule applies

Excluded from the 2G rule are children and young people under the age of 18, as well as people who cannot be vaccinated against the coronavirus for health reasons.

If the hospitalization rate falls below one of the three threshold values for five days in a row, the 2G regulations can be withdrawn.

Below threshold value three and thus not yet affected by the comprehensive 2G rule, the following countries are currently:

  • Hamburg:

    1.62

  • Lower Saxony:

    2.32

  • Schleswig-Holstein:

    2.75

  • Saarland:

    2.64

These rules apply if the hospitalization rate is over six - Bavaria is just under nine

If the hospitalization rate rises above six, the 2G rule is tightened to the 2G plus variant.

This means that vaccinated persons and genesis, especially when visiting discos, clubs or bars, must present a negative test in addition to their convalescent person or vaccination card.

Bavaria is currently the only federal state above threshold six.

With a hospitalization rate of 8.65, the Free State is already rapidly approaching the last value with the strictest measures.

Two countries exceed threshold nine: These rules threaten them

At the latest when the hospitalization rate exceeds nine, the Prime Ministers have agreed that the states may decide on further measures, including contact restrictions, subject to the approval of the state parliaments.

The federal states of Saxony-Anhalt with a hospitalization rate of 11.97 and Thuringia with 18.54 are currently affected.

As it is in the draft resolution, this regulation could be initiated even before the threshold value nine is reached in the event of a “particularly high infection rate with a high burden on the public health system”.
