Only the big Christmas tree and the advent calendar on the town hall facade will be left when the stall operators have dismantled their stands.
The Dachau Christmas market, which should open its doors on Sunday, November 21st, joins the list of cancellations.
The rising corona numbers and the tense situation in the Dachau hospital are the reason for this. “The Christkindlmarktverein has to repay parking space fees and sponsorship money. Investments such as electrics, trees and advertising costs are reimbursed, ”reports Christian Naumann, chairman of the Christkindlmarktverein. “The association invested a total of 20,000 euros. About 450 hours of voluntary work were also wasted. ”Naumann is disturbed by the constant changes to the rules and the short-term cancellation:“ As long as the market doesn't take place safely next year, I won't do anything. ”
The mood at the Christkindlmarktverein was still euphoric at the end of October when a Christmas market without Corona restrictions was planned. Due to the increasing incidence in the last week, the association then decided in favor of the 2G regulation with controls at the entrance. Now the complete rejection followed. "That the market is called off so shortly before the start is disappointing," said Christian Hefele, who has already set up his Schmankerlhütte on the square in front of the town hall.
"So the work of the last few weeks was in vain".
As in the previous year, Hefele would like to set up its stand at a different location.
On December 3rd and 4th between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. he sells steak rolls, sausages and cheese spaetzle in Webling 1a.
"So that all the effort was at least a little worth it." He hopes that his alternative sales point will again be well received this year
