EU will host meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenian leaders Israel today

The two leaders are expected to meet in Brussels next month with the aim of leading to a renewed ceasefire • Russia tried to host the summit itself - but was refused

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will meet with the Armenian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the EU's Eastern Cooperation Conference, which opens on 15 December.

This was announced tonight (Friday) in Brussels.

While Russia has openly and covertly tried to organize a tripartite meeting hosted by President Vladimir Putin, as took place in the ceasefire of the Second Karbach War, European Council President Charles Michel spoke today by telephone with both Aliyev and Pashinian.

Alongside the discourse in front of them in an attempt to stop the exchange of fire in recent days in Carbach, he suggested Brussels as a meeting place.

The EU has stated that the two leaders have agreed to meet in Brussels to "discuss regional issues and ways to overcome tensions in order to achieve prosperity and stability in the South Caucasus." Led by the defense ministers of the two countries.

This is, as mentioned, a great embarrassment to Russia which was satisfied with the ceasefire agreement in Karbach to which it led.

Through the agreement, Moscow achieved its main goal in the South Caucasus: to deploy Russian military forces.

Although the agreement is a "peacekeeping force" that will be in the area for a period of 10-5 years, Russian past precedents illustrate that this is not the case.

At the same time, in the year since the second Karbach war, Baku's confidence in Moscow has been damaged by the disappearance of many Russian forces.
