Fuchstalbahn: Hohenfurch Council adopts negative resolutions, but does not finally say no

Two negative resolutions, but no final no to Fuchstalbahn: This was announced by the Hohenfurch municipal council at its most recent meeting.

Hohenfurch - "The procedure was irritating," explained Mayor Guntram Vogelsgesang in the introduction.

After a round table in Schongau in September, at which more than the announced town hall chiefs had appeared, it was advised to discuss this topic in the respective communities in a non-public manner.

"I was amazed that it was now on the public agenda in Schongau," said Vogelsgesang angrily.

The Hohenfurcher had complied with the request, and the mayor presented the results of the consultation at the public meeting.

According to the 50-page key issues paper, three of the eight level crossings on Hohenfurcher Flur should be closed.

That would mean that it would no longer be possible to cross the tracks there.

"We do not agree," read Vogelsgesang from the shelling, which was caught by a majority but not unanimously.

The municipal council also voted against the flat-rate assumption of costs by the municipality listed in the key issues paper, which, because an expert opinion is still pending, does not yet contain any specific figures.

“There are just too many unanswered questions,” the councilors agreed.

For example, there is the question of a train station for which land would have to be purchased, as well as the entire infrastructure such as driveways, parking lots and bicycle parking spaces.

"We cannot agree to this without a budget."

However, an addition was added to the resolutions stating that the Hohenfurch community is still ready to talk.

In addition, the resolutions should only be understood as instructions for a new round table.

Concrete decisions can only be made when the required expert opinion is available.

"It is also clear that the railway line itself is inviolable, if only because of the freight traffic," emphasized Guntram Vogelsgesang.

And councilor Peter Schratt added: “We have to think nationally on this issue and not let ourselves be left behind when it comes to the traffic turnaround.
