Broken trust base

In addition, members of the state parliament, members of Pro Bahn and representatives of the Fuchstalbahn working group were also involved.

After the round table, in which the key issues paper was presented by traffic engineer Andreas Holzhey, Schongau's mayor Falk Sluyterman, in response to Vogelsgesang's question in this regard, spoke out in favor of not discussing the issue publicly in the local councils. "I kept to that," said Vogelsgesang, referring to the meeting of the Hohenfurcher Committee in September, where the topic was dealt with in the non-public part and he had received his directive for the next round table planned for December. He was "very upset" when he read in the newspaper that Sluyterman and Holzhey had discussed the issue in the public part of the city council meeting in Schongau. He told himthat this must be dealt with publicly in the interests of transparency and that, according to Paragraph 52 of the municipal code, there is no reason for not being in the public eye. Specifically, the instruction includes that a closure of three of the eight Hohenfurcher level crossings - as envisaged in the present 50-page key issue paper - will not be approved. Vogelsgesang justified this with the fact that the farmers affected by this would have to accept detours of several kilometers in the event of closings. Taking into account the fact that there are usually several trips in one day, this point alone should lead to the rejection of the project among those affected. The railway also provides for pedestrian traffic not to be included directly in the transition over the main road due to the lack of technical safety for pedestrians. "That's why they practically forced us to use the northern level crossing for pedestrian traffic."


Budget

Even if, according to the key issues paper, the measures for the construction of level crossings due to the amendment of the law on crossings of railways and roads (Railway Crossing Act) are no longer to be borne by the municipalities, many other considerable costs obviously remain. Willingness to talk

The advocates of reactivating the Fuchstalbahn also used the previous meeting as a forum to present their pro-arguments. Although the mayor sees his own position basically confirmed by the action instruction adopted by the majority, he is still open-minded and willing to talk to other positions. And since one cannot completely shut himself off from this, he called the last point of the instruction drawn up in the municipality council as the “conciliatory third part” for this reason. This means that despite the negative decision by Hohenfurcher, there is still a willingness to talk. At the Altenstadt mayor Andreas Kögl,Vogelsgesang sees the majority of Hohenfurch's counter-arguments largely confirmed, because he was also part of the round table due to the fact that it is next to the district of Schwabniederhofen.


Whether the next round table will take place in December as planned or not until next year due to the current massive increase in corona cases will certainly be decided shortly.
