The Philippine Ministry of Tourism announced today (Friday) that a plan has been approved that will allow vaccinated tourists to enter the Philippines.
The ministry noted that the country's team of corona virus experts "approved in principle the entry of fully vaccinated tourists" from countries with low cases of infection.
The plan comes after the opening of borders in other Asian countries, including Thailand.
Since the outbreak of the plague, 1.4 million tourists have visited the Philippines, compared to 8.2 million in 2019, a decrease of 83% in visitor arrivals.
As you may recall, the country imposed extremely strict entry procedures and was one of the countries hardest hit economically.

"The entry of tourists from green countries or those where the majority of the population is vaccinated and with low infection rates will help us in our recovery efforts," said Tourism Minister Brandt Romulo-Puyat.
The list of the green countries of the Philippines includes Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and India.
