Institut de France: three days to reinvent the world during the Rencontres Capitales

Until Sunday evening, 160 speakers from all walks of life and high level will phosphorate in front of the general public in thirty substantive debates.


For the sixth time, and for three days, the Institut de France opens its doors wide at Quai de Conti, in Paris.

All the emblematic places of the Palais de Institut (the Coupole, the Great meeting room, the Mazarine library and the André and Liliane Bettencourt auditorium) will be the theater of the Rencontres Capitales, until the evening of November 21.

This year, the 160 high-level speakers, coming from all walks of life, propose to "

reinvent the world

".

In front of them, the Institute is waiting for 10,000 curious people, duly registered online.

The very ambitious program is organized into thirty thematic debates (environmental issues, lessons to be learned from the Covid crisis, weight of infox, need to reinvent the hospital, Face of the city of tomorrow, digital capitalism, disability and differences , secularism and religion…).

It is based on everything that counts intellectuals, thinkers, writers, the Institut de France having achieved a tour de force in the composition of its guest panels. As examples, we can listen to the physicist Catherine Bréchignac, the Chief Rabbi of France Haïm Korsia, the president of habitat and humanism Bernard Devert, the climatologist Jean Jouzel, the philosopher of sciences Étienne Klein, the photographer Sebastiao Salgado, the autistic philosopher and writer Josef Schovanec, pianist Jean-François Zygel, infectious disease doctor Odile Launay, Fooding pioneer Julia Sammut, or economist Nicolas Baverez ...

Created in 1795, the Institut de France is home to five Academies (French Academy, Academy of Inscriptions and Belles Letters, Academy of Sciences, Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Moral and Political Sciences).

Its motto is

"Perpetuate, support, enlighten"

 : on this last point, the next three days will be a striking demonstration.
