The Löwenhof-Passage is now a lot more colorful.

As part of the street art project, in which artists are allowed to design walls, columns and panes in Schongauer Gasse, Benjamin Oberhofer also realized three large-scale graffiti.

Schongau

- Passers-by keep stopping and marveling at what is going on in the Löwenhof-Passage.

“Oh, I also voted for this motif,” says a woman who is on her way to Marienplatz and sees the graffiti artist Benjamin Oberhofer in action.

The 31-year-old is one of seven winners of the street art project Schongau, who were able to convince both the four-member jury and the public with their ideas for beautifying the Altstadtgasse.

In the meantime, the artists have set about realizing the designs they submitted to the alley beautification team in October.

Three different motifs: from the cow to the bale house

“I handed in my sketches and got a message pretty quickly: 'You're in,'” says Oberhofer, who has been using the spray can for more than ten years and works as a freelance graphic designer. In Schongau he got one of the large wall surfaces in the Löwenhof-Passage to design. He fills it with three different motifs, which result in a row like an arcade.

When the local newspaper visits him, Benjamin Oberhofer is working on the right picture surface: He is filling it with a large-format, brown cow in front of an alpine panorama.

“The idea was to combine the themes of town and country,” says the sprayer, explaining the concept.

For him, Schongau is very rural due to its proximity to the Allgäu, which is why he sometimes opted for the motif of a cow in the mountains.

With a view of the Ballenhaus, which fills the left picture area, the urban character of the small town should be taken up at the same time.

The third motif in the middle, on the other hand, shows nothing figurative: It is the graffiti tag of Oberhofer's artist name "NUNAX".

Before it could start spraying, a lot of preparatory work had to be done

Before the 31-year-old could get started with the spray can, he was busy with the preparatory work for some time.

"First I had to measure everything, mask off and then paint the wall black," says the graffiti artist, who lived in Schwabsoien for ten years.

Then he sketched the outlines with a light shade and filled the shapes with the spray can - “you always work from dark to light,” he explains.

This is how the colorful pictures gradually emerged.

Oberhofer invested a good two and a half days of work in the beautification of Schongauer Gasse.

Of course, he is not concerned with the money - like the other project participants, Oberhofer receives a fee and reimbursement of material costs.

“I just like to let off steam.

That is the greatest gift. "
