The Lebanese Internal Security Forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle 82 people illegally to Europe via the Mediterranean.
The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces said in a statement today: “The competent security services raided a tourist resort in the Qalamoun region in the north of the country after receiving information about the intention of 82 people, including men, women and children, to go illegally to Europe by sea, where one of the Lebanese involved was arrested. The smuggling operation,” she said, adding that work was continuing to arrest the rest of those involved.
