Politics wasted the summer, the unvaccinated indulge in their egoism. Now the many sensible ones have to pay for it again. A tragedy, says Georg Anastasiadis.

Politics wasted the summer, the unvaccinated indulge in their egoism.

Now the many sensible ones have to pay for it again.

A tragedy, says Georg Anastasiadis.

Bavaria closes again.

Bars, sports, culture - everything is closed again, in a few days at the latest, even if the region around Munich has become a “hotspot” with a seven-day incidence of over 1000.

The Free State is pulling the emergency brake in view of the overload in the intensive care units.

Locking is always possible.

Politicians have learned that, but unfortunately only that, from two years of experience with the coronavirus.

Corona: Bavaria closes - many vaccinated people feel rightly cheated

Absurd: In Munich, the vaccination centers were closed on Thursday and Friday.

Call of duty.

Much of what could have been done preventively was again omitted: the timely boosting of the elderly, the upgrading of the clinics (thousands of intensive care beds there were shut down), the deployment of the Bundeswehr paramedics for an increased number of patients in autumn.

Other things were more important, especially the election campaign.

Many people who have been vaccinated feel rightly cheated: They have been given the injection in the trust that politics in return will do their job and keep their promise not to bring public life to a standstill a third time.

Prime Minister Markus Söder has assured this dozen of times.

Corona lockdown in Bavaria: Söder's government must now make a clear commitment

I promise, broken.

Instead, now that mainly unvaccinated corona patients paralyze the intensive care units, the following applies again: emergency knows no command.

It cannot go on like this, otherwise this pandemic will never end, Bavaria's Minister of Health Holetschek is right.

The announcement of the lockdown for those who have been vaccinated must be followed immediately by the commitment of the Söder government to fight with all its might for the introduction of compulsory vaccinations for all those whom the grand coalition did not dare to try.

Even the FDP, which will soon be co-ruling in Berlin, should not confuse selfishness with freedom.

We can no longer accept that a small group of people who refuse to vaccinate are taking the entire population hostage and destroying the happiness and livelihood of hundreds of thousands.
