The gym of the Anton Vitzthum elementary school in Moosburg was renovated for almost 300,000 euros.

- The renovation of the gym at the Moosburg Anton Vitzthum primary school has been completed. The result is a small piece of jewelery, as became clear at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. Mayor Josef Dollinger presented the result of the measure, which cost almost 300,000 euros. A lot has been modernized and, above all, more security has been ensured.
During the redesign, the hall's venerable stage has been omitted.
This area posed a major safety risk because there were no fall protection devices if, for example, children had to fetch a ball that was thrown next to the basketball hoop.
Instead of the stage, there is now a baffle wall with which the square field of the small gymnasium now has secure boundaries throughout.
In the area of the stage there is a small mat area, this time a fall-proof gallery, which also provides a second place of use for small groups.

When designing the gym, some changes were made. Basketball is no longer played lengthways, instead there are two playing fields running across the board with a total of four baskets. In addition, two climbing areas can be folded out from the wall. Dollinger emphasized that the small location is more of a movement hall. Often the classes went to the school's own hall for a sports lesson, and for a double lesson you visit the sports area of the city hall in the immediate vicinity.
"The renovation of the gym is another important step for the school landscape," said the mayor.
He was also pleased about the precision landing with the costs of the general renovation.
It was estimated at 282,000 euros; according to the Wacker architects, the final costs are now 287,000 euros.
In return, the government of Upper Bavaria transfers a grant of 152,000 euros.
With the renovation, the hall was also digitized in a modern way, because the sports area was already used as a classroom with particularly large gaps during the Corona period.
In terms of time, this construction site was also quick.
The city council passed the decision in principle in October 2020, and construction began in the Whitsun holidays in 2021.
Dollinger explained that after this measure, the next step will be taken with the extension buildings for the all-day school including a cafeteria.
Then the school, which currently has 20 classes with around 500 children, is well positioned for the future.
The municipal school advisor Martin Pschorr made it clear that the teachers were involved in the planning and also gave the architects valuable advice.
He thanked the former headmistress Isolde Göbel, who had been very committed to the planning of the renovated school gym.
