Russian and Chinese strategic bombers carried out joint patrols over the Seas of Japan and East China with the aim of developing relations between the two countries and increasing interaction between their armed forces.
"On November 19, 2021, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army of China conducted the third joint air patrol in the Asia-Pacific region," a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry said today, reported by Sputnik.
The statement noted that the operation was carried out by two Tu-95MS strategic bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces and two Xi'an 6K strategic bombers of the People's Liberation Army Air Force over the waters of the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea.
The statement stressed that the goal of the joint mission is to develop Russian-Chinese relations and comprehensive partnership, increase the level of interaction between the two countries' armed forces, improve their capabilities to carry out joint actions, and enhance global strategic stability.
The statement pointed out that this mission came within the framework of implementing the terms of the military cooperation plan for the year 2021 and is not directed against other countries.
