Saxony also wants to approve the new corona measures worked out by the traffic light parties in the Federal Council on Friday.

Government spokesman Ralph Schreiber pointed out on Thursday that not all of the issues required by the union countries were taken into account.

However, the managing finance minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) has promised that the new infection protection law will be examined at the next prime ministerial conference on December 9 and that it could be tightened again.

The Union-led states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein as well as the green-black ruled Baden-Württemberg had previously announced their approval.

This indicated a majority in the Federal Council.

"This virus cannot be defeated politically"

After the Prime Minister's Conference (MPK) on the corona pandemic, Kretschmer spoke out on Thursday evening in favor of leaving party politics aside and pulling together.

Now it is a matter of working together to protect health, he said in Dresden: "This virus cannot be defeated politically, but only with clear, medical measures."

The MPK rightly decided that 2G (vaccinated or recovered) will be necessary in the future.

Many federal states are still a long way from the Saxon incidence figures.

But given the current dynamics, no region can assume that it will experience Christmas without restrictions.

“So now is the time to step on the brakes clearly in other regions as well.

We in the Free State of Saxony have to do this more clearly, ”said Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer.

According to the head of government, the federal government has given a clear commitment to look at the corona situation again and to sharpen the instruments by December 9th at the latest. "We have the opportunity to work with very clear instruments in the next three weeks." Every event that does not take place, every occasion where not many people meet, is a gain. Infections arise where many people come together in a confined space.

Kretschmer had agreed the population in the state parliament on Thursday for further cuts, but avoided the word lockdown.

The next three weeks should be used to break the big wave, he said in the evening.

In addition to shutting down the country, the infrastructure for more vaccinations and tests must be built.

You need to close ranks with companies and all social groups: "Doing home office now wherever possible, now testing wherever possible."
