The Somme Assize Court on Friday sentenced a young man to 15 years imprisonment for the murder of Clément Brisse, a 16-year-old teenager found dead in a pond near his high school in 2017.

The attorney general had required 20 years of imprisonment, asking the jurors to reject the excuse of minority, facing the
"incalculable number of lies"
of the accused, Jérémy D., a former comrade of the victim.

It can't be someone else, there's no doubt about it, it was he and only him who killed Clément.
The only thing we will never know is why, ”
pleaded Me Demarcq.
He considered the evidence against Jérémy D. to be overwhelming, such as the traces of the victim's blood found on his sneakers or detailed confessions to fellow prisoners.
The suicide hypothesis not completely ruled out
Several former comrades of Clément Brisse told during the trial the bullying of which he was the victim: shaved hair, cookies filled with toothpaste, humiliating nickname or even clothes in the trash. A few days before his death, the teenager had posted a message on Facebook: "
I feel lost in this world (...) it no longer makes me want to continue my life
".
According to the autopsy, his throat was slit over 13 cm, before he fell into a pond in Ham (Somme), a few hundred meters from the Peltier high school where he was in second, in boarding school.
The jurists could not completely rule out the thesis of suicide.
Another former student is also on trial for false testimony.
He ended up confessing to the gendarmes that Jérémy D. had taken him to see the victim's body several hours before it was discovered.
He was sentenced to two years in prison.
