Waakirchen - The child and youth representative Evi Obermüller started a survey in Waakirchen and has now presented the results to the local council.

Too much traffic, too few playgrounds, more bike paths, more daycare places, more affordable living space and more speed monitoring - this and much more is what the participants in a postcard campaign initiated by councilor Evi Obermüller (Greens) want.

The Waakirchner child and youth representative recently presented the results of the survey to her councilors.

Longed for: an ice cream parlor.

The survey ran until the end of August and was originally intended specifically for children and young people.

Ultimately, in addition to the youngsters, some adults also took part and presented their topics, reported Evi Obermüller.

She had finally received 97 postcards plus 32 e-mails.

A painting competition at the elementary school on "My wish for Waakirchen" rounded off the campaign.

Through traffic with trucks is a problem

Obermüller divided the answers to the questions "What bothers you in the community?" And "What do you want in the community?"

The traffic load on Tegernseer Straße and the through traffic with trucks in Marienstein and Schaftlach were often criticized.

In addition, they often drive too fast and often ignore the 30 zone.

Parked sidewalks and cycle paths as well as generally too few cycle paths are further issues that are moving in Waakirchen.

In addition, the poor connection between the districts by buses.

A lack of kindergarten and crèche places as well as too few or inadequate playgrounds or a non-existent village center were also often mentioned.

The transmitter mast in Schaftlach also occasionally interferes.

Waakirchner's long wish list

The wish list of the Waakirchner participants inevitably and largely coincides with the points and locations that were previously criticized as inadequate.

Obermüller listed the following requests, among others:

  • more modern playgrounds and active areas for different age groups

  • more speed controls and limits

  • more affordable housing

  • a retirement home

  • a youth club

  • a recycling center and a restaurant in Schaftlach

  • more benches

  • a forest kindergarten

  • a farm or village shop in Piesenkam

  • a regional machine in Marienstein

  • better bus connections

  • more flowering meadows

  • more event rooms.

  • Obviously, one thing in particular is eagerly awaited: an ice cream parlor - this wish has been expressed 43 times.

Bookcase desired

Obermüller received great applause and recognition from the committee for her idea and presentation.

Now action should also follow.

The councilor recommended that some findings and projects be pursued or examined, including the ice cream parlor, local supplies in Marienstein, the modernization of playgrounds and the youth club.

The councilor would personally find it nice if a bookcase could be built in the municipality for the uncomplicated lending and borrowing of used books.

Some issues have been addressed in Waakirchen once in a while - such as a 30 km / h speed limit on the main street in Marienstein - but not everything was able to prevail.

“But maybe the situation will change, maybe something will work then”, Obermüller sums up.
